Biography
Eduardo Caamaño Gatica (Spain - Mexico 1966) is a visual artist with Madrid roots on his father's side and Oaxacan roots on his mother's side. He spent his childhood, youth and early years as an artist on the island of Mallorca (Spain) and currently resides in Mexico City.
His love for painting was instilled by his uncle, painter Ricardo Fuentes Alcocer, who introduced him to technique and craft. He later trained in the workshop of master Joan Vich in Palma de Mallorca.
He held his first solo exhibition at the Sebastián Foundation in Mexico City and has participated in numerous group exhibitions both in Spain and Mexico.
Artistic approach
My practice focuses on oil painting, although I frequently incorporate mixed techniques such as collage and the use of unconventional materials. I am interested in the dialogue between the representational and the abstract, seeking a balance between form and expression.
The creative process is as important to me as the final result. Each work involves technical and conceptual research that develops over weeks or months.
